In India, there are many young people who dream of a flying profession, but good training is essential when you want to become a pilot. That is why we discuss the most important factors in this article when choosing the appropriate flight school. For example, Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi (IGRUA), National Flying Training Institute (NFTI), Madhya Pradesh Flying Club (MPFC), Ahmedabad Aviation & Aeronautics Ltd. ( AAA) & Bombay Flying Club Air College are the Best Flying Schools in India.

How To Become A Pilot In India

There are many flying schools in our Big Country that give young people the opportunity to realize their dream to become a pilot, but making a choice is not easy at all.

Admission Process

Tests Before you start the pilot training, you usually have to pass the admission tests first. At National Flying Training Institute (NFTI), the admission tests are based on knowledge tests.

Based on the outcome of these knowledge tests, the students are adjusted where necessary, but there is therefore no question of an extensive entrance examination and that is not necessarily an advantage

The entrance exam is not only the beginning of your study program, but also provides an overview of your possible work points and offers you a lot of certainty in relation to your chances of success for the entire program. Proper preparation is essential here, so make sure you are actively involved with the school and with the aviation sector.

You are probably wondering what is going on at such an entry exam. Below an overview with the parts you can expect:

Psychological test: interview in which you check whether you fit into a pilot’s profile.
– COMPASS: computer test that mainly tests general knowledge and skills.
– Physics: the level of this is often compared to a fifth year of physics in secondary education.
– English: as a native language of aviation, English is naturally a natural part.
– Basic Flying Assessment: here you show stress resistance in a simulator.

Do you not come from a scientific direction? No worries! Most flight schools offer a refresher course for physics that immediately serves as preparation for the entrance examination.

The flight school will also ask you to take a ‘ Medical Class 1 ‘, a medical examination to determine whether you are physically fit to become a pilot. In addition, you usually also request confirmation from your bank that proves that you have sufficient financial resources to finance your education. Either with your own capital, the capital of your parents or through a loan.

More information about the content of the admission tests and other requirements to start the training can always be found on the websites of the different flight schools.

Cost Price

Who wants to become a pilot, has to invest. The cost price of the training scares many young people (and of course their parents) and that is no wonder. It is a huge investment, but also the cost price is not a decisive factor when choosing a flight school.

Flying 220 hours including multi engine , solo , night rating , instrument rating : 27 to 28 lakhs [ includes staying and food ]

Type rating : 15 lakhs

Total : 44.5 lakhs , 45 lakhs approximately

Be aware that this is only a basic price without all additional costs that will occur before, during and after the training. These additional costs are normally understood to mean the costs of the medical test, entrance exam, housing in India, food, transport and laptop / tablet, but also possible airport New Delhi or fuel surcharges according to the contract you sign with the flight school.

Different types of Licenses:
a) SportPilot
b) Recreational Pilot
c) Private PilotLicense
d) CommercialPilotLicense
e) FlightInstructor
f) Airline Transport Pilot.

We would all like to study at the flying school around the corner, but as a pilot, you will not be home every day. A school that is a bit further away is naturally accompanied by some extra costs, but otherwise, there are no concrete disadvantages.

Living together with fellow students, for example, already has a number of advantages. You can study together, interrogate each other, discuss problems and carpooling is always an option. It is therefore the perfect way to prepare yourself for the foreign part of the training

Most flying schools are in possession of lists with all enclosures in the vicinity of the flying school. Housing in India must be paid by the student himself, but if part of the training takes place abroad, the flying school is responsible for these costs.

Employment Opportunity

The most difficult part of the training happens immediately after graduation, namely looking for your first job as a pilot. The connections of the school play an enormous role here as they can help you in getting that first job.

Every flight school claims to have direct connections with at least one airline, but it is important to check for yourself whether this corresponds with reality.

What do students think?

In order to offer you a fair and personal picture of the three flight schools, we addressed some ex-students with the question whether they could outline their opinion about the completely finished program. Top 5 Indian Flying Institutes

Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi (IGRUA)
National Flying Training Institute (NFTI)
Madhya Pradesh Flying Club (MPFC)
Ahmedabad Aviation & Aeronautics Ltd. (AAA)
Bombay Flying Club

When choosing the right flight school, there are a lot of things you need to consider, but in the end, it always comes down to your vision of the program. Go to an open house day and talk to as many people as possible about their experience with the school, because only in this way can you experience the real potential of the school.

All the Best for your future endeavors
